Talented owner Mila Greaves is the kind of superwoman we all aspire to be. She makes incredible beeswax scented candles, fantastic lavender sachets, heat and cold pillows and natural, luxurious soap bars and salts. Oh – she even sews the fabric for her lavender filled bags herself. Once you try the sachets in your drawers to keep away moths from your cashmere and fine woolen sweaters, you’ll never want to be without. We certainly won’t!
Who knew soap didn’t need to be boring? Founder Margo Stinson obviously did. Her incredible slices of soap cake and the darling cupcake shaped one are fabulous hostess gifts if you can bear to part with them. In addition, Carberry makes regular soap bars – if by regular we mean all natural, lusciously scented slices of wholesome delight, as well as organic soaps, gentle enough for newborns. If you ever want to learn how to create these artsy bars, Carberry Soap runs workshops in Toronto where you can indulge in some soapy fun, whether you are a complete beginner or you want to perfect your swirling technique.
If you like caramels, you will love Hugo and Nate Confections. In fact, if you’re anything like us, you will be sufficiently infatuated to propose marriage at first bite. Yes, they are that good. But don’t take our word for it – give them a try. Each flavor is delicious, but our favorite will always be fleur de sel. What about you? (We apologize in advance to anyone on a diet. If you stick to the plan, we congratulate you – now may we please have your caramels? If you give in and indulge, we understand. And we’ll never tell.)

Andrea Hill is one of the most talented people we have encountered in our search for Canadian artisans. It was love at first sight when we spied her watercolor maps, and the quality of her giclee prints is evident. Archival quality? You bet. Andrea uses cardstock that is acid-free (obviously) and meant to last 125 years. Once you see her gorgeous artwork, you will be glad to know that the next generation gets to enjoy her creations too. We are very proud to feature one of her exclusive designs in our debut box.
The Canadian Mint is a treasure trove of unique, collectible items. From Stanley Cup commemorative editions to themed designs and pure metal coins, the Canadian Mint features a wide variety of gifts that are unmistakably Canadian.
Kylee is the young mom of a very special boy who has faced more challenges in his young life than most people do in a lifetime. After he was born with a severe heart defect, Kylee decided to start a business to help support her family and would allow her to be at home to help care for her little boy. Her talent is incredible - she can take a s piece of wood and create a beautiful custom wall decor piece. We are thrilled to have Kylee create exclusive designs for us, and look forward to showcasing her products in our store.
The Bento team developed the CO website which we think, leaving modesty aside, turned out pretty great. They were a fantastic partner - and continue to be as work together to expand the site and promote our business through social media. They are knowledgeable and patient, and most importantly address issues in a professional manner. Any website build will encounter some difficulties - what matters from a customer's standpoint is how your developer rises to the challenge. We look forward to working with Max and his team as we continue to add functionality to the website, and hopefully launch another business. We have already recommended Bento to fellow entrepreneurs and there is no greater compliment we can give than to say we'll be a repeat customer and continue to refer others when asked about a Shopify expert. When you are ready to start your entrepreneurial journey, call Bento.
Given our mission to source only Canadian goods we were unwilling to order boxes from overseas. However, finding a local supplier for custom print boxes that could provide us with the quality, quantity and personalized service we were looking for proved to be quite a challenge. Fortune smiled when we discovered PBT - and we couldn't be happier with our lovely boxes. Always a quick phone call or email away, they are a fantastic partner to have.
